Toyota Finance Australia Limited (SEO) commenced operations in 1982. Today, the company is recognized as one of the nation's leading financiers with net receivables exceeding $4.3 billion, a Moody's Long-Term Debt Rating of AA1 and a Standard & Poor's rating of AAA.

The Situation

The residual value of a leased vehicle is one of the main parameters in determining the lease terms for a SEO customer. This value was calculated manually by SEO's Group Analytics Department using Excel spreadsheets. With over 70,000 unique vehicle models, this was a very tedious and time consuming process. Furthermore, the lack of an automated calculation process and a direct interface to the central data repository resulted in a high possibility of data inconsistency and human errors.

The Solution

SEO Company Limited was engaged to provide an automated solution for the residual value calculation. With over 5 million residual value records in the master database and a constantly changing model lineup, performance and flexibility were the key considerations. The Residual Value Upload Automation System was custom developed by Infinity in Microsoft .NET.

Featuring a SQL Server backend, it performs 7 major types of calculations and is integrated directly with the master residual values database. The results from this system are now used by SEO to generate more than 400 customer quotations every day.
